STUDY IN MALAYSIA EXPERIENCE

Accommodation

Dorm – Residence Hall

Many international students choose this option. Single or shared rooms are available for rent (depending on request). Private bathroom, free internet, furnished room, bed, mattress, chair, desk, and balcony are among the private amenities.

Students will have access to a shared kitchenette, a washing room, a living room, a studyroom, a GYM, a play area, an air conditioner, a security camera, and a swimming pool (not available in all areas) as well as bike parking lot. Dormitories are usually only a 10-minute walk away, saving you money on transportation. As a result, avoid hustle to get to class on time by getting up early in the morning and taking public transportation.

Cost: Some dorms will provide daily meal for student at $3-$6/day. You can rent a single furnished room with private kitchen at $30-$150 US Dollars/month 

Off campus (studio, private house, apartment)
Amentities

Serviced and non-serviced amenities are available in private housing. For overseas students, off-campus living provides a more independent and private housing alternative. Students usually move out of the on-campus residence after getting to know the area and the local culture.

Your university’s housing service can also assist you in finding off-campus accommodations. Malaysia offers a variety of off-campus housing options, including studio, private apartments, and communal apartments for independent living. In Malaysia, there are regions designated as student zones. The majority of students live here because it is closer to their educational institutions.

Price: Off-campus housing cost approx. $55-$123/month. Utilities and other amentities like internet will be included in the total rent.

Off-campus housing is always a bit more expensive than on-campus. It is recommended that you should live with another housemate reduce the cost. Student is responsible for security and maintenance in an off-campus facility. The cost of renting will vary depending on its location, size, amentities and whether or not it is fully furnished. 

Is it possible to study and work in Malaysia? International students are generally permitted to work part-time. But only if you agree to the following terms and conditions:

  • Only allowed to work at a maximum of 20 hours per week, however, can increase the hours working during holidays. 
  • International students can only work in 4 areas: restaurant, small market, hotel or petrol station. 

Study in Malaysia and then transfer to America

Some international universities in Malaysia collaborate with institutions in the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, and other countries. As a result, transferring credits to study in the United States becomes much easier. tudents who study in Malaysia for the purpose of transferring to the United States can choose to study for two years at a Malaysian institution and two years at a US university.
